Yoo Geun-Taek is participating in a group exhibition, Ah! East Asian Painting: Already · Always · Change at Art Center White Block in Paju. 'Ah! East Asian Painting: Already · Always · Change' is the second exhibition of the four-part series 'Ah! East Asian Painting,' presenting the unique artistic worlds of artists who interpret the traditions of East Asian painting from a contemporary perspective. The exhibition showcases their artworks and interviews, aiming to examine the changes and the present state of the genre within the context of contemporary art.
Yoo Geun-Taek has been focusing on capturing the gravity of the ordinary hidden beyond the solid surface of daily life by using traditional materials such as hanji (traditional Korean paper), ink, and oyster shell powder. In addition to Yoo Geun-Taek's major works, Dialogue (2022), Growth and Development – Me (2020), and Standing at the Edge (2018), the exhibition also introduces his works created during his Berlin residency in 2019, including Self-portrait in Wedding and Berlin Landscape. The exhibition runs until October 9th.
유근택 작가의 작품을 파주의 아트센터 화이트블럭에서 개최되는 그룹전 《아아! 동양화: 이미·항상·변화》에서 만나볼 수 있다. 《아아! 동양화: 이미·항상·변화》는 총 4부로 기획된 ‘아아! 동양화’의 두 번째 전시로, 동양화의 전통을 현대적인 시각으로 해석하여 독창적인 작품세계를 구축한 작가들의 작품과 그들의 인터뷰를 함께 선보이며 현대미술 안에서 동양화의 변화와 현재를 살피고자 기획되었다.
유근택은 동양화의 전통 소재인 한지와 먹, 호분 등을 사용해 우리를 둘러싼 일상의 풍경을 담아내어 매일 마주하는 견고한 일상 너머의 숨겨진 무게를 주목해왔다. 전시에는 유근택 작가의 대작 〈대화〉(2022), 〈생.장 – 나〉(2020), 〈끝에 서 있는〉(2018) 이외에도 작가가 2019년 베를린 레지던시 당시에 작업하였던 〈베딩에서의 자화상〉과 〈베를린 풍경〉이 소개된다. 전시는 10월 9일까지.
