The exhibition catalogue for Myong-Hi Kim’s solo exhibition Deep Time is now published.
Deep Time is a mini-retrospective that surveys more than five decades of Kim’s artistic practice, where life and history, individual experiences and collective memory intersect.
The catalogue features installation views of the exhibition, including scenes of Naepyeong-ri, the landscape that inspired the artist’s iconic chalkboard paintings, as well as high-resolution images of a new self-portrait series created to commemorate her third solo exhibition with Gallery Hyundai. The catalogue also presents a broad range of the artist’s work, from oil paintings created during her years in New York to narrative drawings that place mythological figures alongside images of contemporary women.
Three essays by Kim Hong-hee, Richard Vine, and Seewon Hyun further explore key concepts that have shaped Kim’s artistic practice throughout her life. Bringing together the perspectives of a Korean art historian, an American art critic, and a curator from a different generation, the essays offer a multifaceted view of Kim’s artistic practice.

김명희 작가의 개인전 《깊은 시간》 도록이 발간되었다.
《깊은 시간》은 삶과 역사, 개인적 경험과 집단적 기억이 교차하는 작가의 반세기 작업 세계를 조망하는 미니 회고전이다.
도록에는 시그니처 작업인 칠판화의 탄생 배경이 된 내평리의 풍경을 담은 전시 전경을 비롯해, 갤러리현대에서 열린 세 번째 개인전을 기념하여 제작한 자화상 연작 신작의 고화질 도판이 수록되었다. 또한 뉴욕 시기에 제작된 유화 작품과 동서고금의 신화 속 인물들을 현대 여성의 이미지와 병치한 서사적 드로잉 작업 등 작가의 폭넓은 작업 세계를 생생하게 소개한다.
아울러 김홍희, 리처드 바인, 현시원이 집필한 세 편의 에세이는 김명희의 생애 전반에 걸친 작업 세계를 관통하는 주요 개념들을 탐구한다. 한국 미술사학자, 미국의 미술평론가, 그리고 세대가 다른 큐레이터의 시선을 통해 작가의 예술세계를 입체적으로 조망할 수 있다.
