For the second Frieze Los Angeles, Gallery Hyundai showcases an array of international renown Korean masters who have indelibly influenced Korean art history. Highlights include: Quac Insik and Lee Ufan, who investigated the relationship between materiality and abstraction; Kim Tschang-Yeul and Chung Sang-Hwa, the forerunners of Korean Abstract art; the pioneering video artist Park Hyunki; Shin Sung Hy, who navigated between the two and three dimensional limits of painting; and Minjung Kim, a contemporary master working with mulberry Hanji paper creating poetical aesthetics straddling East and West philosophies. The works that we present in the booth reflect unique perspectives and aesthetic consciousness ruminating on the natural and the artificial, materiality and abstraction, tradition and innovation, and the existent and illusory.⠀⠀

올해 개관 50주년을 맞은 갤러리현대는 2회를 맞은 아트페어 <프리즈 로스앤젤레스(Frieze Los Angeles)>에 참여한다. 갤러리현대는 한국 현대미술을 대표하는 갤러리로서, 한국 작가들의 다채로운 작품만으로 부스를 꾸린다. 곽인식, 김창열, 정상화, 이우환, 박현기, 신성희, 김민정 작가가 그 주인공. 그들은 자신만의 예술 세계를 구축하며 국제 아트씬에서 명성을 쌓았다. 갤러리현대 부스를 통해 관객들은 자연과 인공, 물질과 관념, 전통과 혁신, 실재와 환영, 그리고 인간과 세상을 성찰하는 매우 독특한 시각과 미의식이 녹아 있는 한국 현대미술의 한 역사를 만날 것이다. 페어 측도 공식 보도자료를 통해 갤러리현대의 한국 작가 라인업을 올해 페어의 ‘하이라이트’로 소개하고 있다.
